Work is continuing on the installation of the new ENVEVO 150kW rapid charging infrastructure at Blackpool, with early-stage electrical and cable installation works progressing steadily on site this week.
On Monday 11th May, site set-up was completed and LV cable terminations were installed within the substation by Envevo and Watkins. The following day, Tuesday 12th May, the LV panel was delivered via Hiab and positioned and fixed down on site by Watkins, ensuring it was securely installed and ready for the next phase of electrical works.
On Wednesday 13th May, Envevo commenced charger cable pulls from the LV panel to the designated charger locations. These works continued through Thursday 14th May and Friday 15th May, with teams progressing cable routing across the site and preparing for the upcoming termination stages. Careful coordination has been required throughout to ensure all routes are correctly installed ahead of final connection works.
Further works are scheduled to continue next week, including the installation of charger cables into the LV panel and termination into the LV panel switchgear. These stages will bring the project closer to the final installation phase, ahead of the delivery and positioning of the rapid chargers later in the programme.
This project forms an important step in expanding EV charging capability at Blackpool, supporting the ongoing rollout of reliable rapid charging infrastructure across the network and strengthening future provision for electric vehicle users.
